“That time of the month” is probably the worst week you encounter every month. Don’t you think so? There is no full stop to your cravings and mood swings! Those endless cravings make you feel like eating all that junk and processed foods stored in your kitchen. I agree that the cravings are hard to resist and you find comfort in your food to distract yourself from the horrible pain or cramps you suffer. But do you know that there are foods that can regulate your pain?

Yes! You heard me right! The food you take can either alleviate your discomfort or increase it. You can take control of how your body feels while you are on your period. The food you eat during your period time has the ability to ease menstrual symptoms like cramps, nausea, fatigue, bloating, weakness and headache. 1. Dark chocolate

It is quite obvious that we tend to eat a lot of chocolate during our period. Be it in the form of chocolate or pastries, we always have a thing for a sweet tooth. But there is no need of stopping our urges anymore. You can have dark chocolate instead of milk or white chocolates. Dark chocolate contains iron and magnesium which are known to lower severe PMS symptoms.

2. Salmon

Fish contains omega 3 fatty acids which can help in reducing the pain during menstruation. Salmon is one fish that tops the list of rich sources of omega 3 fatty acids besides iron. Both of these together can ease the pain you face during periods. So go for salmon if you’re planning to eat fish during your period.

3. Bananas

This potassium rich fruit can give you an instant energy boost if you feel weak while on your period. If you suffer from diarrhea or irregular bowel movements caused due to periods, bananas should be the fruit you’re opting for. The magnesium in it relaxes the muscles and fiber helps you with the bowel movement.

4. Green leafy vegetables
